Autobiographical Interviews

Autobiographical interviews - your story, told by you!

Who better to tell your story than you? Or, who knows all the funny stories about your parents and your aunts and uncles better than Grandma?

The only problem with relying on Grandma to relive the stories for you is getting by to see her. Also, have you noticed that maybe she doesn’t remember them as well as she used to? The sad thing is that we let Father Time rob us of so many precious memories - ours and those of our loved ones.

autobiographical interviews

Listen to this short sample of an autobiographical interview; this came from an audio cassette that we converted to CD.

Are you one of those who sit down with a family photo album, or maybe looks at photos on our computer, and reminisces about your dear departed loved one? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hear their voice one more time? Well the great news is that it’s never been easier to record your Mom or Grandpa telling those stories you’ve heard a hundred times!

Most of the time, the challenge is getting them to feel like they have a story to tell. Most of the Baby Boomers or the Golden Generation are too humble to believe that anyone would want to hear what they have to say - but we know better, don’t we?

Just imagine your Dad getting to talk about that great fishing trip that you went on, and about the big one that didn’t get away...

The easiest way to do this is to sit down with your loved one in a comfortable environment, turn on the camera, and just get them to start talking. Occasionally, you'll need to chime in with a question or two to get them going again.

It’s never been easier to do an autobiographical interview. Look at all the technology available: DVD camcorders, Flip Phones, smart phones - you name it.
Here is a short segment of a video interview I did with my parents a few months before my father's death. The video that came out of this session is the only recent memory we have of our parents.

Maybe you could sit down and tell about what it was like to grow up on a farm. While you’re at it, throw in a quick story about going to see San Francisco and the Golden Gate after you retired. wasn’t it cool to get to take a tour of Alcatraz and try to imagine what is was like when the prisoners were still there...

You can shoot the video, and we’ll help you transfer and save it on DVDs. That’s a great way to save some money, and not have to sit down and figure out how to do the most complicated part!!!!

Just do it now - before the memories are gone forever. Contact CSRA Multimedia to learn more about creating an autobiographical video.
